I spend a lot of time on a computer. Somedays, I really just want to do something with my hands, something that makes me think. Now I have the opportunity to work on a project that lets me do just that. The deadline is tight and at moments it’s almost overwhelming. But I have to say, after spending the past couple hours trying to figure out how to glue Legos to my foot, I couldn’t be happier. #thisiscompletelynormal #ineedabiggerfoot #vscocam
Hello beautiful people,
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything and thought it was time for an update. I’ve been fairly busy between school and work, and have several projects I need to upload here.
Yesterday, I took a much needed break from homework and flexed my drawing fingers. I found a tutorial on digital tutors and decided to try my hand at mixing colors with the mixer brush in photoshop. That turned into coloring an old sketch, which turned into this and will probably turn into something else down the road.
Now it’s back to homework… yay.
Developing a Personal Brand
In case you didn’t know, it’s true. Designing for yourself is difficult.
Needless to say, I’ve been struggling a bit this past week with reworking my personal brand and site. I’m picky. I have a thousand ideas. I narrow them down and replace the one I’ve thrown out with two more. Ideas are constantly running through my head. Process. Platforms. Color. Fonts. Content. Features. Time.
I’ve come across a few articles and features from fellow designers who’ve gone/are going through the process of building a freelance business of their own. They are pretty good reads and in some cases, very enlightening. I’ve collected them here for your reading pleasure:
- On Personal Branding + A Little Explanation Behind the Fresh Vibe by Fresh By Sian - I’ve recently stumbled on Sian’s Blog (by recently, I mean this morning) and based on my personal experience this week, she’s definitely got a point.
- Be Free, Lance by Breanna Rose - This series offers a lot of insights into freelancing and managing your business.
- Burnout at Age 26 by The Veda House - This short post is something that I relate to. The Veda House also has two features that are good reads as well: Studio Hours (a behind the scenes look) and Freelance Journey
